La petite princesse a un souci : elle veut grandir. Elle fait donc le tour de ceux qui l'entourent pour leur poser la question : que doit-elle faire pour grandir. Et chacun y va de son conseil. Mais, chaque fois, l'illustration contredit le discours de l'adulte. Les illustrations sont hilarantes, avec ces détails qui reviennent de page en page.
Et, petit à petit, la princesse découvre que ce n'est pas si simple. Jusqu'à ce que le bon sens l'emporte, et que son petit frère lui dise, tout simplement, qu'elle est déjà grande.
Un album très réussi qui répond aux questions des petits qui se demandent comment devenir, vite, de grandes personnes, alors que, peut-être, il faut leur montrer, tout simplement, qu'ils sont déjà grands, et qu'ils doivent profiter de ce qui s'offre à eux.
